'Nothing More Than $1,500:' Wholesaler Thinks 1990 Cadillac with 84K Miles Will Go for $4,500 at Auction. Is It Worth That?
"To a niche buyer easily worth over $15K."
A 1990 Cadillac is going viral on TikTok after car expert Robb (@robbthecarguy) showed it off ahead of an upcoming auction. But he sparked a debate over what the vehicle is actually worth.
The red-on-red sedan had just 84,000 miles, a CD player, gold keys, fresh tires, and even working A/C. Robb called it “a classic” and “gorgeous,” but when it came to price, he didn’t flinch.
“Nothing more than $1,500,” he said.
That low estimate stunned a wholesaler he works with, who appeared in the video and claimed he’d pay up to $4,500.
Robb held firm, even as he joked about the car’s past life.
“This was Donald Trump’s car,” he said with a grin, before tossing out the idea it could’ve belonged to the mafia.
He ended the clip by repeating his prediction.
“I think this car is going to be $1,500,” Robb said. “No more than $1,500.”
The video has already pulled in more than 19,400 views, with commenters weighing in on whether Robb is being brutally honest or seriously undervaluing a classic.
How Much Is It Worth?
Figuring out what a 1990 Cadillac with 84,000 miles is worth depends on a lot more than just the odometer reading. Some models, like the Fleetwood or Seville, can go for under $1,500 if they’re in rough shape, according to Edmunds, while higher-end trims like the Eldorado or Brougham in excellent condition can fetch $8,000 or more. The exact model, condition, and even the options make a big difference in what someone would actually pay.
Condition is usually the most significant factor. A well-maintained car that still looks and drives like new will pull in much more than one that needs work. Features and color matter too: Certain interiors and packages are more desirable to collectors. Even where you’re selling can impact the price, since demand for older Cadillacs is stronger in some regions than others.
If you want to get a specific number, the first step is to figure out exactly which model you have. Then take a hard look at its condition, noting any wear, damage, or mechanical issues. Once you have those details, online appraisal tools from sites like Edmunds or Classic.com can give you a more accurate estimate based on real market data.
Are Classic Cadillacs Coming Back?
Classic Cadillacs that are still worth holding onto are usually the ones prized for collectibility and quality. According to MotorTrend, that includes the pre-war V-16 and V-12 models from the 1930s, the Series 62 convertibles from the 1940s, and the iconic 1959 Eldorados.
Other popular choices include various Eldorado trims and Fleetwood Broughams, mainly for their luxury and style. In the latter half of the 1900s, though, Cadillac’s overall quality started to dip, making those earlier models the ones collectors chase.
Even today, these classic Cadillacs continue to draw interest from enthusiasts like Robb, who believe the old-school charm and design of the classics still hold strong appeal.
Viewers Say the Car Expert Is Underselling
Robb’s followers were quick to say his $1,500 estimate was way too low for a Cadillac in that condition. The car started right up, looked clean, and hadn’t been messed with—something commenters said makes it worth far more.
“$2,500 to $4,000 isn’t unreasonable,” one woman said.
“$4K all day where I’m from,” another added.
“That’s a 10K car for the right one…,” a third person wrote.
Some were ready to buy it on the spot.
“I’d pay $4,500 for it today,” one man offered.
“Bro, I’d pay $4K for that, and I’m in Chicago,” said another.
“I would pay $3,500 all day, I love them Cadillacs,” a third added.
And many people simply admired the car’s appearance.
“This is actually nice and the seats look mad comfy,” one commenter observed.
“That’s beautiful,” said another.
Motor1 has reached out to Robb via a direct message on TikTok.
Update Sept. 10, 2025: Robb tells Motor1 he estimated a $1,500 sale price because "At first glance, older Cadillacs crossing the auction block often look like desirable bargains. Many show impressively low mileage and have a classic, well-kept appearance. However, these cars are notorious for engine troubles, which makes them difficult to sell. Despite their visual appeal, they are not considered reliable choices, and as a result, they typically command low bids."
For the specific Cadillac in the video, he made his estimate based on "common mechanical issues."
He shares that it sold for more: One of his friends bought it for $3,500. He feels it fetched this price "due to its exceptionally clean condition. Had it been in average shape, the price would have fallen below that mark.”
