This is the 'new' Tesla Model Y

First camouflage-free photos for the restyled Model Y that will arrive in the next few months

The unveiling of the facelifted Tesla Model Y is getting closer and closer, and to prove it, there are now spy photos posted on Instagram by cochespias. We have no way of verifying the authenticity of the shots, but the shape of the model is in line with the previews of recent months.

Furthermore, we know that the production of the Model Y 'Juniper' is scheduled to start in the next few weeks. That is why what you are seeing could be the first real photos of the renewed Tesla without camouflage.

Cybertruck school

Apparently, Tesla is testing the model in winter conditions, perhaps to test not only the car's set-up, but also its battery efficiency. We don't know whether the tests are being carried out in Northern Europe (often testing territory for many car manufacturers) or in the US, but the fact remains that the look of the model seems to be the definitive one.

Both the front and rear areas are clearly visible. The front of the Tesla is very reminiscent of the styling seen on the Cybertruck, with the thin light line connecting the small LED headlights. At the rear, on the other hand, the light clusters are reminiscent of those seen on the restyled Model 3 and are joined at the centre by an LED bar, as anticipated by rumours in recent months.

Engines and batteries

The impression is that the presentation of the restyled Model Y is really close. All that remains to be seen is which motors will power the American crossover as it aims to be the best-selling electric model in Europe (and beyond).

It is likely that the Model Y will adopt the powertrains seen on the Model 3, with two battery sizes of 60 kWh and 77 kWh and rear- and all-wheel-drive versions. The RWD with the larger battery should retain its 'Long Range' status, with a range close to 435 miles. We expect the debut of the 460 PS Performance sports variant a few months after the debut of the 'normal' Model Y, a bit like the Model 3.

The price list should still start at around EUR 42-43,000 for the RWD with the smaller battery.
