Restyled BYD Dolphin debuts in China
Small design changes while the engines remain the same. It will arrive in Europe during 2025
The new BYD Dolphin, or rather its restyling, is shown for the first time in the first official photos published on the website of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The fact that this is not a new generation is evident from the minor changes to the design, which has remained virtually unchanged.
We still don't know when it will debut in Europe, while marketing in China is expected to take place in early 2025.
How it changes
Compared to the model currently on the market, the restyled BYD Dolphin features changes to the front end, with a redesigned bumper and new headlamps with 'moustaches' extending laterally. The side view, on the other hand, remains unchanged, while at the rear the 'Build Your Dreams' lettering integrated into the central light strip has been replaced by the 'BYD' logo. Also new are the light signature and the 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels, depending on the trim.
How the rear of the BYD Dolphin 2025 changes
The BYD Dolphin 2025 still measures 4.29 metres long, 1.77 metres wide and 1.57 metres high with a wheelbase of 2.7 metres. According to official Chinese ministry figures, the weight varies between 1,435, 1,480 and 1,600 kg depending on trim and powertrain.
Speaking of powertrain, the Dolphin's 2025 range includes three options, all 100% electric of course:
- 95 PS
- 177 PS
- 204 PS
exactly like the version currently on the market. The batteries will be BYD's classic Blade LFP.
The equipment
Of course, it is still too early to talk about prices for Europe, where the revamped BYD Dolphin is expected to arrive in the course of 2025. For now, we know that in China the options list includes a panoramic sunroof, various radars and cameras, tinted rear windows, high-gloss trim and different wheel designs.
