Cop Power: Police BMW M2 with 553 bhp debuts at Essen Motor Show
The BMW M2 from AC Schnitzer is the Tune It! safe! campaign vehicle for safe tuning.
And every year, the groundhog greets the groundhog. When the news about a souped-up performance vehicle in police livery pops up in your news feed, you know it's the Essen Motor Show again. This year, a BMW M2 will be the dream of all car-savvy law enforcement officers.
It is already the 20th campaign vehicle of the "Tune It! Safe!" initiative, which advertises "that appealing creative tuning does not have to be in conflict with legal requirements." In addition to tyre manufacturer Hankook and the Essen Motor Show, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, the TÜV, several automobile clubs, and various associations such as the VDAT (Verband Deutscher Automobil Tuner) are also involved. That's the bland part out of the way, and we can now turn our attention to the chic blue-lit vehicle from M GmbH.
This was kindly provided by BMW and tuned by AC Schnitzer. The modifications include a power increase to 553 bhp and 479 lb-ft. The police M2, therefore, has 100 bhp and 74 lb-ft more than the standard vehicle, which is obviously still a pre-facelift M2 (with the facelift, the standard output of the M2 rose to 473 bhp). So that the siren is not needed too often, the sound has been upgraded via a sports silencer with 110-mm tailpipes and carbon fibre finishers.
To increase the driving dynamics, AC Schnitzer relies on an RS coilover suspension with an adjustable kit for the standard electronic dampers. Depending on the setting, the car can be lowered between 25 and 35 mm. In addition, there are golden forged wheels in 20-inch front and 21-inch rear sizes, which, according to AC Schnitzer, reduce the unsprung masses by 26 and 28 pounds. The stylish alloys are, of course, fitted with Hankook tyres. Ventus S1 evo 3 tyres in 285/30 R20 at the front and 295/25 R21 at the rear are used.
An aero kit consisting of a front splitter, side skirts, a roof spoiler, and a specially developed carbon rear wing ensures credibility in the rear-view mirror. The wings and bonnet have "striking accents."

Foliatec took care of the official police livery, including safety film on the front side windows. The lighting and signalling technology comes from Hänsch. The DBS 4000 warning system with LED lighting technology is a central element. In addition, SPUTNIK SL directional speed cameras and the new Sputnik mini LED warning system provide targeted light distribution. The vehicle is also equipped with the Sputnik Flat mobile warning system, which can be flexibly deployed at various positions.
From 30 November until 8 December 2024, you can admire the silver-blue terror of all criminals at the Essen Motor Show in Hall 7, Stand B11.
