Xiaomi's new electric car will arrive by March 2025

Xiaomi doubles down. After launching the successful SU7 battery-powered saloon, the Chinese smartphone and electric car manufacturer is preparing its second four-wheeled product. According to rumours picked up by local media and international publications, the eastern giant is also about to launch an electric SUV.

Known at the moment under the code name MX11, the vehicle will come onto the market in February or March 2025 and will fit into the market segment occupied - among others - by the Tesla Model Y.

Success beyond expectations

Thus Xiaomi will enrich its offer for zero-emission drivers, already strong with the SU7 electric saloon and the extreme SU7 Ultra version, coming to the Chinese market at a price of 814,900 yuan (around £89,000). However, we had a preview of the super variant at the CATARC Yan Cheng Automotive Proving Ground, where the car hit a top speed of 224 mph.

Returning instead to the basic version, the SU7 sold for the equivalent of around £22,500, which is less than the Tesla Model 3. The saloon was therefore the protagonist of a boom in bookings that earned the parent company a sales record.

Numbers that do not leave the fledgling manufacturer indifferent, ready to expand the range with no less than two vehicles. We have already mentioned one, but now we add that it could be coupe-shaped, as anticipated by images of a prototype filmed during some road tests.

The other, however, remains shrouded in mystery. Some speculate on another SUV, this time with six seats and a range extender, which could be called the N3.
