Renault 4 E-Tech: Dimensions and boot space of the electric crossover
Very compact yet very spacious, the R4 also offers plenty of space for luggage.
Length : 4.140 metres
Width : 1.800 metres
Height : 1.570 metres
Wheelbase : 2.620 metres
Luggage compartment : 420 l/N.D.
Renault's nostalgia operation is perfectly executed with the return of the R4. Following on from the 5 E-Tech, the French brand is dusting off another iconic model, also updated with a 100% electric powertrain.
Larger and more advanced, the Renault 4 E-Tech boasts a look inspired by the past and exceptional roominess for its class, whilst retaining a compact size. So it's not a vehicle for the faint-hearted, as you can see below.
Renault 4 E-Tech, dimensions
The dimensions of the Renault 4 E-Tech place the French crossover at the heart of the B segment. Length is 4.14 metres (9 cm longer than the Clio, to be precise), while width is 1.80 metres. The height is remarkable at 1.57 metres, above the average for the category, while the wheelbase reaches 2.62 metres, which is also remarkable.

Also of note is the 18.1 cm ground clearance, which (at least in theory) allows the Renault to tackle some rough terrain with ease, as was the case with the classic model.
Renault 4 E-Tech, roominess and luggage space
With its long wheelbase, the R4 offers considerable space for its exterior dimensions. The rear space can comfortably accommodate two passengers, while the central occupant benefits from greater comfort, thanks to the absence of the transmission tunnel. However, the floor is somewhat raised by the battery and the thighs are not well supported on the seats.
Renault 4 E-Tech, a 420-litre misfortune
The boot of the Renault 4 E-Tech has a total capacity of 420 litres, with an additional 35 litres of storage space under the floor. A large tailgate and 61 cm lower loading threshold sill provide easy access to the load area, which also includes side pockets for small items.
Renault 4 E-Tech, the competition
There's no shortage of competition for the Renault 4 E-Tech. There are many electric models in the B-segment, particularly from the multinational Stellantis, and we have compared some of the main models in the table below.
These include the Volvo EX30, which is enjoying good commercial success thanks to its excellent balance of power, equipment and price, and the Jeep Avenger, which is already available in a 4xe version with all-wheel drive.
| Model | Length | Boot |
| Alfa Romeo Junior | 4.17 m | 400/1,265 litres |
| Fiat 600e | 4.17 m | 360/1,231 litres |
| Jeep Avenger | 4.08 m | 355/1,250 litres |
| MG4 | 4.28 m | 363/1,177 litres |
