VW Tayron (2025): Dimensions and boot space of the 7-seater Allspace successor
With a length of 4.77 metres, it is more than just another Tiguan version that offers plenty of technology and space
- Length: 4,770 mm
- Width: 1,852 mm
- Height: 1,660 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,791 mm
- Luggage compartment: min. 345 - 850 litres (7-seater) / 885 litres (5-seater) up to max. 1,905 - 2,090 litres (min. 705 litres/max. 1,915 litres eHybrid PHEV version)
The VW Tayron is much more than just the 7-seater version of the Tiguan. The Tayron, which will go on sale from autumn 2024, it is based on the evergreen MQB platform, now in Evo version, and therefore can have either front-wheel drive or electronically controlled all-wheel drive.

In terms of dimensions, the VW Tayron is around 20 centimetres longer than the Tiguan, just to accommodate the two additional seats in the boot, and even slightly longer than its "cousin" Skoda Kodiaq, with which it shares many technical components. So let's find out how big the Tayron is in detail.
The dimensions
As is easy to guess, the new VW Tayron replaces the previous Tiguan Allspace. It is the seven-seater, family-friendly version of the new Tiguan, which is very popular in some parts of the world such as the United States and China. However, the Tayron models there differ from the European version.
As already mentioned, the local Tayron is 4.77 metres long, 1.85 metres wide and 1.66 metres high. Values that bring it very close to the upper D-segment. The wheelbase is 2.79 metres (around 10 centimetres longer than that of the Tiguan).
Space and boot capacity
Thanks to the changes in length and wheelbase, the engineers have succeeded in increasing both the space available for rear passengers and the load volume.
The latter in particular now varies (in the versions with a combustion engine or mild hybrid) from 345 litres in a seven-seat configuration to 2,090 litres with the second row of seats folded down in a five-seat configuration; this figure rises to 705 litres (five seats) and 1,915 litres (maximum value) in the plug-in hybrid version called eHybrid.
Similarly dimensioned competitors
The new VW Tayron enters the segment of 7-seater mid-size SUVs. Its direct competitors with dimensions between 4.70 and 4.80 metres include some of the best-selling models of recent years, such as:
| Model . | Length | Boot capacity |
| Hyundai Santa Fe | 4.79 metres | 725 litres |
| Kia Sorento | 4.81 metres | 813 litres |
| Nissan X-Trail | 4.68 metres | 585 litres |
| Renault Espace | 4.72 metres | 581 litres |
| Seat Tarraco | 4.74 metres | 760 litres |
|
Skoda Kodiaq |
4.75 metres | 845 litres |
