Skoda Kylaq (2025) revealed: Small SUV for India
The new Skoda Kylaq SUV is 4 meters long and has a 1.0 petrol engine with 116 PS, but unfortunately it will not arrive in Europe
Sales begin in India of an all-new compact SUV that is just four metres long and costs 789,000 rupees, or £7,300. This interesting newcomer is called the Skoda Kylaq and is equipped with a fine array of features including various driving aids.
In addition it has important options worthy of higher car categories such as electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, automatic headlights with cornering function and hill start assist.
Related to the Volkswagen T-Cross, but more compact
The exterior measurements of the new Skoda Kylaq report a length of 3.99 metres, a width of 1.78 metres and a height of 1.57 metres, dimensions that make it slightly more compact than even a Volkswagen T-Cross.

Designed to cope with India's rough roads, the Kylaq has a decent ground clearance of 18.9 cm. The Kylaq is underpinned by the Volkswagen Group's MQB-A0-IN platform, essentially a low-cost version of the ubiquitous MQB architecture that already underpins the aforementioned T-Cross and Taigo.
116 PS 1.0 turbocharged engine
It certainly won't set any Nürburgring records for crossovers, as it only has a three-cylinder engine. It is a 1.0-litre turbocharged unit with 116 PS and 178 Nm of torque. Power is channelled to the front axle via a six-speed manual gearbox or an automatic.
Skoda Kylaq, the interior
Skoda has developed the Kylaq with a more powerful automatic climate control system to cope with India's scorching summer days. Depending on the version, buyers can get various optional extras from an electric sunroof to cruise control. The small crossover is also offered with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless 10.1-inch infotainment. An 8-inch digital instrument cluster is available to the driver.
On sale in India in early 2025
The entry-level Skoda ranks below other locally developed and produced models, such as the Slavia saloon and the Kushaq crossover. Around 95 per cent of the components come directly from India, where the Kylaq will be assembled at the Chakan plant.

It will go on sale in the Indian market early next year, while there are currently no plans to import it into Europe.
