2017 Genesis G80 debuts with Sport version at Busan Motor Show
Hyundai’s premium marque Genesis has unveiled the 2017 G80 which will spawn a Sport version.
While the Genesis G80 was originally shown in January at the Detroit Auto Show, that was actually only a rebadged version of the Hyundai Genesis. Today, at the Busan Motor Show, Genesis introduced the actual 2017 G80 which from a design point of view hasn’t changed that much. The real news here is a spicy G80 Sport with quad exhaust tips that looks considerably more aggressive and seems to adopt a sportier suspension judging by the lowered ride height.
A press release is not available right now, but we checked South Korean websites and managed to find out it has the G90’s biturbo 3.3-liter V6 engine with 370 horsepower (272 kilowatts) and 376 pound-feet (510 newton meters) of torque.
In the larger G90, the newly developed six-cylinder is hooked up to an eight-speed automatic transmission to enable the large sedan hit 62 mph (100 kph) in 6.2 seconds. However, the G80 is smaller and lighter than the Equus-replacing G90, so expect a sub-6s time.
We will keep you posted once we get our hands on a press release. Meanwhile, you can check out the official reveal of the G80 and G80 Sport at the Busan Motor Show in the video below from 11:20.
