Mazda CX-3 gets £24k GT Sport Nav+ limited edition variant

Just 500 examples of the range-topping model will be built.

A new, limited-edition version of the Mazda CX-3 will go on sale at the beginning of June, the Japanese company has announced.

Limited to just 500 units, the CX-3 GT Sport Nav+ will cost a little over £24,000 and represents the pinnacle of the small SUV’s line-up. Sitting above the currently range-topping Sport Nav+ model, the newcomer will provide buyers with a host of new styling touches and extra equipment.

Externally, the special-edition car comes with free Jet Black Mica, Ceramic Metallic or Soul Red Crystal Metallic paint, each of which is complemented with some extra brightwork. The door mirror covers get a silver finish, while the front and rear bumpers feature some matt silver “trim garnish” on their lower sections.

Inside, the GT Sport Nav+ gets red leather seats with white inserts, and the dashboard and doors feature soft-touch white trim. There’s a little extra kit, too, in the shape of the memory function for the power-adjustable driving seat.

Aside from the colours, though, your only real option is the choice between the six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. You don’t even get a choice of engines, leaving you stuck with the 2-litre, 119 bhp petrol engine. As it does without a turbocharger, it doesn’t have that much power for its size, but it’s still fruity enough for a 119 mph top speed and 0-62 mph in nine seconds flat. It’ll do 42.8 mpg, too, although the automatic version is both slower and less economical than its manual sibling.

Mazda’s managing director for the UK, Jeremy Thomson, said the addition of a special-edition premium variant would chime with the brand’s customers.

“Over 75 percent of the CX-3’s we sell in the UK are Sport Nav+ models, so our customers love the combination of premium quality and style the high-grade versions of this excellent small SUV deliver,” he said. “The launch of the GT Sport Nav+ adds a standout special edition model, which brings the generous equipment, distinctive looks and enhanced value that discerning crossover buyers are looking for.”
