The Mercedes-Benz Classic Center has restored a 'Fintail' 1964 Benz model to compete in the long-distance FHR race (a race for classic cars) on October 22 and 23 at the Nürburgring.

The restored 'Fintail' is based on the Mercedes-Benz 220 SE model (W 111 series) and comes with an inline six-cylinder unit with its original specs: 2.2 liters delivering an output of 120 PS (88 kW / 118 hp) and 189 Nm (139 lb-ft) of torque.

Transmission is a four-speed manual with floor shift and a single-plate dry clutch. Top speed is 170 km/h (106 mph).

Driving the 'Fintail' in the event will be Andrew Frankel, a British journalist, and Klaus Ludwig, a former touring car driver.

See the press release below for more details on the race.
