Buying a car should be a long-term investment. It’s one of the most expensive purchases people make today next to a house and a college education. People keep cars for various lengths of time for a variety of reasons – reliability, maintenance costs, accidents. But some people do hold onto their vehicles, and a new study from iSeeCars.com shows which cars people hold onto the longest. The average consumer keeps their vehicle for 8.4 years on average before upgrading.
The results are surprising but not shocking. Sports cars are well represented. People who buy sports cars do so to drive them on special occasions and rarely do they use them as their daily driver, which is what people do with those types of vehicles. Crossovers are also heavily represented, too, with several models on the list.
