If we asked you to name five of the most memorable liveries in F1 – 10, even – it would be the work of a few moments to rattle off some of the most eye-catching, the most iconic, the most stylish and witty paint jobs that have hit the track in the last 70 years or so of the sport’s history.
We won’t expect you to agree with all of our suggestions…heck, that 1997 Lola is just in there to wind everyone up, and the 1999 BAR earns its spot just by being so stupid.
Still, here’s something to look back on during the odd moment when you sit back and realise that modern F1 teams seem to have lost the ability to create a look that will stand the test of time. How many liveries of the last five years will we still be talking about in 20 years’ time?
