Alfa Romeo has refreshed the Tonale crossover for the 2026 model year, emphasizing exterior design enhancements and new trim options while streamlining the powertrain lineup. The hybrid engine has been discontinued, leaving only the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which delivers 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

This engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and Alfa’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system, standard across all trims. Exterior updates include a redesigned front fascia, a new concave scudetto grille inspired by the 33 Stradale, and more aggressive lower intakes, along with a reduced front overhang and widened front and rear tracks.

Inside, the 2026 Tonale’s cabin remains largely unchanged, but new trim options have been introduced. Red leather seats are now available, and every crossover features contrast stitching on the dash, door panels, and armrests. The Tonale is offered in three trims: Sprint, Veloce, and the new Sport Special.

The Sport Special trim is the top of the lineup, featuring silver skid skirt and bumper accents, gloss-black Brembo brake calipers, and new 20-inch three-hole wheels, with exclusive black-and-pearl Alcantara-trimmed seats and an Alcantara-wrapped dash. The Veloce trim offers leather seats as standard, dual-mode suspension, aluminum shift paddles, and red Brembo brake calipers.

The 2026 Tonale will be available in three new colors—Rosso Brera, Verde Monza, and Giallo Ocra—alongside existing options, with a new contrasting black roof available. Alfa Romeo plans to deliver the updated Tonale to dealers before the end of the year, with pricing announced closer to the on-sale date. Despite these updates, the Tonale faces challenges in reversing its poor sales performance, with a 23 percent decline in the first nine months of the year and only 2,09 units sold. The Tonale was first introduced in the U.S. for the 2024 model year.
