The iSeeCars study on 5-year depreciation reveals that the Porsche 911 holds its value better than any other car, with just 19.5% depreciation, followed closely by the Porsche 718 Cayman and Toyota Tacoma. Sports cars dominate the top ranks thanks to brand prestige and limited production, while trucks like the Tacoma and Tundra retain value due to reliability and consistent demand. Mainstream models such as the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Hatchback also perform well, highlighting their long-standing reputation for dependability and low ownership costs.

Vehicles like the Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Camaro, and Ford Mustang also made the top 10, showing that American performance cars retain strong resale appeal. The Porsche 718 Boxster rounds out the list, benefiting from the same desirability as other Porsche models. Across the top 10, depreciation ranged from about 19.5% to 30.1%, all significantly better than the national average.

Overall, the study found the average vehicle loses 45.6% of its value after five years. Trucks and hybrids outperform that average, while electric vehicles, particularly luxury EVs, show the worst depreciation—averaging nearly 59%. Buyers prioritizing long-term value may benefit from focusing on reliable, in-demand models, especially in the truck and compact car segments.
