Get Ready: The New Ram TRX Might Debut On January 1
Stellantis' CEO confirmed the truck would return, but he didn't say when.
Ram has been teasing the TRX’s return ever since it introduced the RHO last year. Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa confirmed it a few months ago, and we might finally see the truck debut on January 1. The brand has posted a video to its YouTube page today that teases the launch of something that sounds powerful and exciting.
There’s a deep woosh sound when the video opens, which the captions reveal is a sonic boom. That fades into the rumble of an accelerating engine—possibly a V-8— that’s capped off with the sound of a supercharger blending into the breeze.
All it shows is some sand, possibly a dune, and it ends with the text “Power Will Be Reborn” and a date—January 1, 2026. It tells us nothing as to what we should expect two weeks from now.
There’s a broken link in the video description that could provide more information, but all signs suggest this is the TRX.
In July, during Stellantis’ second-quarter earnings call, Filosa said, "The V-8 engine on versions, such as the Ram 1500 TRX, will deliver to us additional volumes but also accredited margins per unit.” He didn’t say when the truck would return, but Mopar Insiders reported that it could arrive at dealers as soon as January 2026.
When Ram launched the 2025 1500 RHO last year, it was adamant that the new model wasn't a replacement for the TRX. The company said that "when and if" it talks about "those three letters," it would "have a proper positioning" for them.
The previous TRX had the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 Hellcat engine, producing 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
Earlier this year, when Ram announced the Hemi V-8 engine would return to the 1500, brand CEO Tim Kuniskis said he had to tap in former SRT chief engineer Daryl Smith to quickly figure out how to pair the old V-8 with Ram’s new architecture. He did it in six months, and Kuniskis was coy about Smith’s role going forward, considering his past work.
"That means nothing, or that means everything," Kuniskis said. "You guys look into that however you want. But Daryl was able to turn that 18 months into six months, and, again, the fact that he was the lead guy on SRT maybe means something, I don't know.”
