Cupra pick-up would be the 'bombshell' model of 2025

Why not develop it from the Volkswagen Amarok?

Of course, 2024 was a busy year for Cupra in terms of new products, with the restyling of the Formentor and Leon, plus the arrival of the Tavascan, Born VZ and Terramar. It seems that in 2025 the Spanish brand will take a bit of a break when it comes to unveiling new models, but... what if there was a surprise pick-up waiting to be unveiled?

Relax, we're not suggesting this possibility because there isn't one (yet), but a pick-up from the Spanish brand's range would be feasible. All you'd have to do is take the Volkswagen Amarok (itself based on the Ford Ranger) and modify it to create a pick-up with a sporty look and feel.

In the recreation that opens this article, published by Cars Guide, we show you what such a surprise model could look like. The truth is that the front end blends in perfectly with the rest of the car and is a real eye-catcher.

The CUPRA pick-up would not only have a recreational component, but would also be perfectly suited to the needs of work on a farm, for example. The Amarok has a load capacity of up to 1,160 kilograms, so the Spanish model would also have this quality.

The engines would also be the familiar 2.0 TDI turbodiesel engines with 170 and 204 hp, plus the powerful 240 hp 3.0 V6 TDI with a Ford 10-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Of course, the vehicle would be equipped with a reduction gearbox for rougher roads.

The rear leaf springs would guarantee the excellent load capacity mentioned above, although it would be a challenge for CUPRA to achieve a fun and efficient pick-up on tarmac while retaining this rear suspension component.

Tell us what you think!

The model would measure around 5.35 metres long, 1.91 metres wide and 1.87 metres long, and in the case of the range-topping trim, it would enjoy exclusive SUV equipment, as on the Amarok Aventura, with Matrix LED headlights, 21-inch alloy wheels, 12.3-inch configurable digital instrumentation, 12-inch portrait central display, heated seats...

The price of the Cupra pick-up? It could start at around €50,000, just like its German 'cousin'.

Now that Mitsubishi and Nissan have given up on their SUVs in Europe, and Kia doesn't market the Tasman here, it wouldn't be a bad time to venture into this project, don't you think?
