The most spacious SUV in the Hyundai range is a living room packed with technology and can accommodate up to seven people.

More than five metres in length and futuristic styling are the first things you notice when you look at the Hyundai Ioniq 9. The Asian manufacturer's top-of-the-range electric SUV is aimed at large (and tech-savvy) families, with top-of-the-range equipment in both digital and more practical areas such as boot space. Here's a detailed look at the interior of the Ioniq 9.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 dashboard

The dashboard looks rather familiar. In fact, the layout is very similar to that of the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, with two 12.3-inch screens side by side for the instrument cluster and infotainment. Of course, there's no shortage of technology dedicated to OTA updates, advanced voice assistant with artificial intelligence and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Under the centre console, packed with physical controls, we also find a wireless charger for the smartphone and USB Type C sockets with a power rating of up to 100W.

Hyundai Ioniq 9, materials and finish

The Ioniq 9 is very well finished in terms of materials, with plenty of soft trim on the dashboard and the most visible parts of the interior. As well as fabrics and leather made from recycled materials, there are also elegant mouldings that echo the effects of brushed aluminium and elaborate textures in the door panels.

In addition, Hyundai 'plays' with colour, with a lively interior in terms of colour too. For example, the seats of the Ioniq 9 presented at the launch are a dual tone of green and beige.

What do you think?

There's no shortage of space on board the Ioniq 9. The Korean SUV can be ordered in either a six- or seven-seat, three-row configuration, and in the former case the second-row seats can swivel 180° (and recline fully) to create a lounge of sorts.

If you're travelling full, there's still 620 litres behind the third row, 1,323 litres with five (or four) seats in place and over 2,000 litres with all rows down. As if that weren't enough, there's either an 88-litre or 52-litre front boot, depending on whether you choose a rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive version.
