The old Volt made due with 38 miles of all-electric range, but Chevrolet has upped that number by 15 for the latest iteration. The result is a car that can function exclusively as an EV for more people than it's predecessor, with a 1.5 liter gas-electric range-extender onboard to alleviate the anxiety for those with longer commutes.
A week of regular use revealed some shortcomings in cargo capacity, rear-seat space, and rear-visibility but the Volt’s instantaneous electric torque and competent handling still made it a delight to pilot around town.
