Audi is reportedly considering entering a segment the brand has not explored until now: that of large, pure off-roaders. According to the latest rumors, the project could give rise to a model designed to take on the Mercedes G-Class and Land Rover Defender, focusing on a rugged design that still aligns with the new styling language of the Four Rings.
Speculation points to a body with upright proportions, a tall front end, slim headlights, pronounced wheel arches, underbody protection, large-diameter knobby tires, and greater ground clearance than current Audi SUVs. The goal would be to preserve the brand's identity while reinterpreting it in a more extreme key, clearly setting the new model apart from the Q6, Q7, and Q8.
On the technical side, there is still no official confirmation, but the new 4x4 could make use of the body-on-frame platform developed by Scout Motors within the Volkswagen Group. This solution would make it possible to offer genuine off-road capability and both fully electric and range-extender versions, credited with more than 310 and more than 500 miles of range, respectively. If the project gets the green light, it could debut between 2027 and 2028, with a price above 100,000 euros.
