smart officially confirms the return to a two-seater city car: in 2026, the new smart #2, fully electric, will debut. Designed by the Mercedes-Benz Design team and produced in China, it will represent the spiritual successor to the historic fortwo, featuring modern technologies tailored for urban use. Europe will be the key market, with cities like Rome and Paris identified as ideal settings. The project's genesis dates back several years, under the internal name "project: two," which allowed for the feasibility of re-entering the A-segment to be assessed. "The confirmation of our project: two and the imminent launch of the smart #2 mark a pivotal moment for the brand on a global scale," stated Dirk Adelmann, CEO of smart Europe. "The smart #2 will shape a new era of individual urban mobility." With the new #2, the smart lineup will complement models #1, #3, and #5 with a compact and iconic car.
