'Let's See...': Arkansas Electrician Finds Toyota With 635,000 Miles. Then He Tries To Start It

Toyota’s longevity is legendary—if they're properly cared for. One Arkansas electrician just found a truck that underscores this fact.

Arkansas electrician Ben Butler posted a Facebook Reel of the Toyota truck. "Y’all want to see what 635,000 miles does to a Toyota?" he asks. "Let’s see how good she still cranks. Original motor, original transmission, original rear end."

Butler turns the key, and the Toyota immediately roars to life. "Touch of the key," Butler says. "Six hundred and thirty-five thousand miles."

Viewers React To The Toyota With 635,000 Miles

In the video's comments section, viewers reacted with a mix of admiration for the vehicle's longevity and disdain for its interior condition. "She still purring," said one viewer.

A second person said, "[I had] 300,000 on mine. 2011. Still all original. Going strong."

A third viewer added a video of their antique Toyota truck. "Thirty-six years later," they wrote. "All original.

Someone else remarked on the interior. They said, "Dear lord. Give that truck a little bit of love for taking care of you all these years." Another person agreed, "Can you at least clean the inside? That is absolutely disgusting."

They found a 1996 Lexus LS400 with over 900,000 miles on the odometer, a 2007 Toyota Tundra with over 1 million miles on the original engine and transmission, and a 2007 Toyota Tundra that went 792,000 miles on the original transmission.

Completing necessary maintenance at regular intervals is the first step to ensuring your Toyota lasts as long as possible. It’s also a good idea to keep up with recalls and get the necessary repairs, use manufacturer-recommended parts and fluids, visit the same regular mechanic, and address any warning lights or signs immediately.

Reddit users advising a Toyota Camry owner said essentially the same things. "Maintenance and driving it like a grandma on her way to church will go a long way," one person said.

A second person said, "Oil change and filter every 5,000 miles, transmission drain and fill every 60,000 miles, air filter every other oil change, cabin filter once a year, coolant every 5-6 years. I’d recommend … any good synthetic oil of your choice."
