Honda Turned This CR-V Into a Clever Camper. But You Can't Buy One

It's called the Dream Pod, and it's only a concept. But the camping insert is available from a company called Egoe.

The camper craze isn't quite as strong in 2025 as it was during the COVID pandemic, but Honda reckons there are still folks looking to wander. Instead of chopping up a Pilot or a Passport, however, the CR-V fell under the knife forthe company's latest concept—sort of. Honda basically folded down the rear seats and slid in a camping insert. The result is what you see here, the CR-V Dream Pod concept.

The crux of this camper conversion actually comes from a company called Egoé. Based in the Czech Republic, the company specializes in all kinds of plug-and-play camping gear for vehicles, including large modules designed to slide into the back of vans, SUVs, even hatchbacks. The Dream Pod makes use of the Egoé Nestboard 650, a relatively simple platform that sits atop the folded rear seats. It serves as the foundation for a bed that fits two people, and at the very back is a pull-out shelf containing a stove and collapsible sink.

The Honda CR-V isn't exactly a sizable vehicle for camping, but the Dream Pod concept isn't supposed to deliver a big-camper experience. Honda says it's inspired by Japanese capsule hotels. For those unfamiliar with the concept, it's exactly as it sounds. Budget-minded travelers stay in a bed-sized room with shared features such as lockers to store items.

"By combining car-like handling and comfort with SUV versatility, this is a model that single-handedly created the modern crossover sector," said Nik Pearson, corporate communications general manager for Honda Europe. "The ‘Dream Pod’ is therefore the perfect celebration of the CR-V’s pioneering success and its status as one of the world’s most popular SUVs.”

Beyond that, Honda adds some special touches to the CR-V Dream Pod's interior. You'll find extra USB charging ports scattered about, and small "tech pods" with LED lights and pull-out tables. Bespoke blackout covers fit perfectly in the CR-V's windows.

Being a concept vehicle, you can't buy a camper-ready CR-V from Honda. However, Egoé does list the Nestboard 650 on its website for 3,899 euros. That equals approximately $4,400 in US currency, though it's unclear if Egoé is willing or able to ship one to the States.
