Exactly 60 years ago, in 1965, Burkard Bovensiepen founded the Alpina company. Strictly speaking, this was the car division, as the name had previously been known for typewriters and calculators. The six employees in the early years could hardly have imagined that the brand would develop into a globally recognised small series manufacturer.

Continuing the tradition of exclusive special models, the BMW Alpina B8 GT has now been created to celebrate the anniversary. The B8 GT is a tribute to Burkard Bovensiepen, who died in 2023. The four-door Gran Coupé is limited to 99 units worldwide.

The B8 GT is equipped with the final expansion stage of the V8 Bi-Turbo. This provides 634 PS and a maximum torque of 850 Nm, making it the most powerful engine in Alpina's history. The Gran Coupé impresses with excellent driving performance: The sprint from 0 to 62 mph is achieved in 3.3 seconds, and the 124 mph mark is reached in just 10.5 seconds. Thanks to the 13 PS increase in power and the 50 Nm increase in torque, the B8 GT now reaches a top speed of 205 mph.

Thanks to new carbon fibre elements, the exterior of the BMW Alpina B8 GT combines sporty dynamism with the elegance of a luxury vehicle. The air ducts in the front apron, the side dive planes, the AirBreather trims and the newly designed and sportier diffuser are finished in visible carbon fibre. Exclusive and limited to 20 units, the B8 GT is available in an elegant two-tone paint finish, in which either Alpina Blue or Alpina Green II are harmoniously combined with Sapphire Black.

Each vehicle comes with two exclusive weekender bags made from the finest black Lavalina leather with blue accents. A special highlight of the B8 GT delivery scope is an exclusive chronograph, which was developed in collaboration with the renowned Swiss watch and jewellery expert Carl F. Bucherer. Based on the renowned Manero Flyback model, this timepiece has been visually and technically refined in the style of Burkard Bovensiepen. This exclusive watch is limited to just 99 pieces.

The B8-GT models are limited to 99 units worldwide. The special edition can be ordered now in the UK and is expected to be available from July 2025. The recommended retail price is £191,300.

Since 1983, the company from Buchloe in the Allgäu region of Germany has been run as an independent car manufacturer and not an aftermarket tuner, a fact it has always been keen to emphasise. But this will come to an end in 2026 when Alpina becomes part of the BMW Group as the company secures the rights to the Alpina brand.
