Suzuki Jimny becomes Hummer H2... and we like it!

The smallest off-roader is aesthetically close to the large SUV - how ironic!

If we were talking about SUVs of extreme size, we would have the small Suzuki Jimny on one side and the massive Hummer H2 on the other. What would happen if we combined their looks? The answer lies in the intriguing digital recreation at the top of this article.

As you can see, the grille, grille cover, rescue hooks, wheels and orange roof lights all come from the American 4x4. In fact, these elements blend well with the Jimny, which retains its successful vintage styling.

But don't worry, such a Jimny won't be offered on the market. We just wanted to let you know about this eye-catching creation, which would otherwise be well received to consumers. But the harsh reality is that the standard Jimny isn't on sale anymore.

As we have mentioned before, the Japanese SUV has been off the market for months now, but there will be a replacement. I'm sure you're thinking 100% electric, but it won't be, even though Suzuki's original plans were for a zero-emissions model.

The Japanese carmaker's engineers are apparently going to develop a new biofuel-compatible combustion Jimny, which should be on the market before the end of this decade. Will we be able to buy these plant-based fuels at a reasonable price in a few years' time? That is the key question we cannot yet answer.

We also don't know whether the next Jimny will keep the 1.5-litre, 102 PS naturally aspirated petrol engine or be replaced by a different one. Suzuki has always stated that a light hybrid engine is not possible in this car due to lack of space.

What will be retained are the various off-road features, such as connectable all-wheel drive with a reduction gearbox, two rigid axles, recirculating ball-bearing steering and hill descent control. It's also worth remembering that the Jimny was developed on a beam and crossmember chassis, which will also be continued in the next instalment.

What do you think?

The truth is that we miss the days (2018, to be precise) when the Jimny was on sale for as little as £19,999 (as a commercial vehicle only). Do you remember? It caused such a furore that delivery took a long time (more than 12 months) and you could even make a profit reselling it, as they were sold to private individuals at a much higher price than Suzuki's official asking price.
