Suzuki Jimny Pickup: the most sought-after recreational variant
Can you imagine Suzuki approving this vehicle?
Now that the Suzuki Jimny will be gone for some time in Europe, it is time to look forward to new features when it returns powered by biofuels. For example, the pickup version, which would be the cheapest pick-up truck on the market.
Would you also like such a vehicle? It would be a revolution in our market and even more so in a segment in clear decline, in which traditional brands such as Mitsubishi or Nissan lack a representative of this type in some markets such as Spain.
The image illustrating this article is just a digital recreation by SRK Designs, which shows us a truly attractive and adventurous Jimny pickup, with an extended cab and a small cargo box. It looks like a more playful than working option.

A pick-up for unique excursions
It certainly looks a lot like a real off-roader and retains that vintage look that has been so popular with customers around the world. The side sills make it easier to get in and out of the passenger compartment, but they do make the approach angle worse.
The 'real' Jimny is developed from a chassis, which is the basis for pickup trucks to withstand the harsh and demanding treatment of long working days on farms. Therefore, this pick-up version would retain that robust chassis.
It would, of course, also retain the switchable all-wheel drive with reduction gear and the two rigid axles, as well as hill descent control and recirculating ball-bearing steering. It would not, however, have the 1,000 kg payload capacity of some of the larger vans.
Suzuki, we want it!
Of course, the Jimny pickup would share an engine with the three-door body. What will be the mechanics? We don't yet know if the Japanese 4x4 will keep the 102 PS 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol engine, adapted for biofuels, or if it will be powered by a different one. In any case, the question is whether these plant-based fuels will be a real alternative in Europe to buy the Japanese SUV.
In principle, the Jimny will arrive in the course of this decade (there is still no fixed year), while the pickup is just a dream that we would like to see become a reality. We know the chances are slim, but Suzuki, make it happen!
