Lewis Hamilton involved in Monaco accident with Pagani Zonda LH

Lewis Hamilton has suffered a car crash in Monaco that has delayed his travel for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

He informed his fans through his Instagram account that “nobody was hurt”, but “the car was obviously damaged” as a result of a “very light contact with a stationary vehicle.” The accident had him staying an extra day in Monaco to “rest at home” while also nursing a fever.

“Talking with the team and my doctor, we decided together that it was best for me to rest at home and leave a day later,” Hamilton stated. “But I am feeling better and am currently boarding the plane to Brazil.”

“However, I am informing you because I feel we all must take responsibility for our actions,” he also admitted. “Mistakes happen to us all but what's important is that we learn from them and grow.”

Bild reports the Brit crashed his special Pagani Zonda LH, while a low-res photo, allegedly taken right after the accident, surfaced online, showing a supercar, a taxi and several police officers. The Instagram user who uploaded the photo comments that he heard “a car coming down the hill, then heard it lock up under braking and then a Big Bang”, adding he “went out and it was” Lewis Hamilton.

While there’s no confirmation the car involved in the crash is the Zonda LH indeed, the left front fender of the vehicle from the photo seems to be damaged as the wheel is highly exposed.
