Oettinger VW Golf R500 unveiled with 518 PS, massive price tag
Oettinger has unveiled their new Volkswagen Golf R500 at Wörthersee.
Described as a "super sports car," the model is based on the Golf R and features an aggressive widebody kit and 20-inch ATS forged wheels with Dunlop Sport Maxx tires.
The sport styling continues in the cabin as the tuner installed leather / Alcantara sport seats, Alcantara accents and revised trim. The model also has a new gear knob and orange contrast stitching.
Bigger changes occur under the hood as the 2.5-liter TFSI five-cylinder engine has been "extensively modified." Highlights include a new turbocharger, forged pistons and an optimized ECU. There's also a new air intake, an improved cooling system and a sports exhaust system. Thanks to these modifications, the engine produces 518 PS (381 kW) and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the all-wheel drive R500 to rocket from 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds before hitting a top speed in excess of 300 km/h (186 mph).
If that's not insane enough, the company says they're working on different versions with 600 (441 kW), 650 PS (478 kW) and 750 PS (551 kW).
The R500 will eventually go limited production and pricing is expected to start at approximately €150,000 ($171,187).
