Genesis, a brand that has been independent for a decade, has introduced its performance sub-brand, Magma, with the unveiling of the Magma GT Concept in France. This concept car is set to define the brand’s performance heritage over the next ten years and aligns with Genesis’ roadmap announced in September.

The roadmap includes a “Magma Halo” vehicle as part of the brand’s transition to a luxury high-performance lineup. Genesis has expressed its racing ambitions, hinting at an interest in the GT category and planning to enter the IMSA SportsCar Championship in 2027.

While powertrain details remain undisclosed, Genesis emphasizes that the Magma GT is not solely focused on speed. Instead, it combines refined luxury with the character of truck motorsport. The car’s design features a low front hood, sloping roofline, and wide rear fenders, giving it a supercar appearance reminiscent of Koenigsegg.

It showcases Genesis’ twin-line lighting design, with integrated canards at the front and illuminated Genesis branding between twin light bars at the rear. The vehicle also boasts optimized aerodynamics, a boat-tail cabin, and butterfly doors.

Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis’ chief creative officer, describes the Magma GT as the pinnacle of the brand’s performance vision and a symbol of its commitment to motorsport capability. The concept serves as a design manifesto and a strategic beacon for Genesis as it ventures into motorsport and expands its high-performance portfolio.

The Magma GT is expected to guide the brand’s performance identity, and anticipation is high for what this entails. Despite being a concept, the Magma GT appears ready for production, signaling Genesis’ readiness to make a significant impact in the high-performance automotive market.
