BMW tuner veteran G-Power is already showing itself to be hungry for performance early in the new year. "Since the beginning of the year", a three-stage power programme has been available for the six-cylinder engine of the compact sports coupé, according to the company's latest press release.

Stage 1 boosts the 3.0-litre biturbo engine to 600 PS and 720 Nm of torque thanks to in-house performance software. Ex works, BMW's S58 engine in the M2 delivers 460 PS and 550 Nm. After the facelift last summer, the output rose to 480 PS. G-Power praises itself here for the "clean, pleasant torque development and optimised response".

If you want it wilder, you can get a performance package with 650 PS and 780 nm. In return, there is further optimised performance software and a new exhaust system with flap control and "the typical, muffled G-Power sound". The tailpipes can be optionally wrapped in various types of carbon fibre.

At the end of the food chain (quite a few food chains, presumably) is the variant with 700 PS and 840 Nm. Here, the software is given a further boost. New sports downpipes have also been added to the conversion. Regardless of the level, every performance upgrade requires an ECU unlock, which unlocks the factory tuning protection.

Further upgrades in the course of the engine tuning are a cancellation of the factory top speed limit, an adaptation of the transmission software to the new torque curves including a reduction in shift times, a boost cut-off "for an even more aggressive sound" and sports air filters. In addition, there are optional boost pressure and/or intake manifolds made of orange-painted aluminium and a carbon engine cover.

The latter is not the only piece of carbon fibre that the Bavarian tuner bolts onto the M2. The new aero and styling parts are also made of fibre composite material. The vehicles pictured have completely new front wings with 911 GT3 RS-style vents. There are also front flaps, a rear wing and the carbon bonnet already familiar from the big brothers M4, M5 and M8. With its sophisticated airflow, it is designed to improve heat dissipation from the engine compartment and thus reduce the thermal load on the drive components.

What do you think?

To fill the now wider cheeks, G-Power relies on in-house forged wheels in 9x20 inch at the front and 10.5x21 inch at the rear with Michelin tyres in the dimensions 285/30R20 and 295/25R21.

If you want to boost the interior of your M2 to match the hefty extra power, G-Power offers sports steering wheels with carbon design, LED displays, carbon gearshift paddles or even complete leather interiors.
