UK: Indestructible van and cheap conversion - the perfect motorhome to get you started
For less than £12,500 you get 2 for 1: classic and camper in a single vehicle
When it comes to buying a camper van or motorhome, it's the same as with SUVs: it's impossible to buy on the cheap. Even when looking at the second-hand market, it is difficult to find recreational vehicles at an attractive price.
No doubt, this is something that can be discouraging for first-time buyers in a sector that is experiencing a truly spectacular bubble. But before you get desperate, you can always keep looking through the used models in search of something that fits the bill, and even among classic models.
Such is the case of this Citroën C15 converted into a compact camper that we are featuring today. A very popular model a few decades ago which can be interesting to buy if it has had a good life. In fact, this particular C15 camper van cost less than £12,500.
A Citroën C15 converted into a cheap camper van
Yes, it has been sold, but I'm sure there are many more online. After all, thousands of the legendary Citroën C15 van were assembled between 1984 and 2005 at the Citroën factory in Vigo (now Stellantis).

And this is no ordinary commercial vehicle. Especially because of its reputation as a robust, reliable and, in short, almost indestructible van.
This classic motorhome, marketed under the name Nu Venture Junior, was found for sale (via Autotrader) in England and, unsurprisingly, it was right-hand drive. But let's take it as an inspiration for a cheap, retro camper project.
Designed for travelling as a couple, this van had everything necessary for two people: a living area with a square table, two individual armchairs and a sofa, which transforms into a base for the bed. The kitchen has two burners, a sink and a refrigerator.
In addition, there are curtains and blinds to ensure privacy and relaxation, and to keep out the sunlight at certain times. And there is also a grill and electric connection. So, now you know: if you like it, go and look for some, there are still plenty left.
