Secretly, car writers love to review minivans. Why, you may ask? Well, for starters, though minivans have gotten a bad rap as soccer caddies and mall parking lot residents, they’re usually quite pleasant to drive. In much the same way I find it refreshing to tool around in a Mercedes Sprinter or a Ford Transit Connect, getting behind the wheel of the newest family hauler is always a nice change of pace.

What’s more, minivans have all the best stuff: Vacuums, multiple video screens, apps and games baked into the infotainment systems, and some of the most innovative, configurable interiors you’ll find anywhere. For a reviewer, there’s a lot to chew on.

And that’s one reason I was so excited to tackle Chrysler’s new Pacifica for this week’s Why Buy? video. Along with the Honda Odyssey, this is the newest minivan on the market, and packed to the roof with interesting features that are dedicated to making people hauling a thing of pleasure, not pain. See the three-row fun in the video above, and, if you haven’t yet, please subscribe to our YouTube channel today.
