The 1990s marked the transition of SUVs from utilitarian work vehicles to comfortable family cars, with the Ford Expedition being a notable example. As the Expedition approaches its 30th anniversary in 2027, Ford is celebrating with a special 30th Anniversary Appearance Package. This package features a striking Blue Ember metallic tri-coat paint, originally used for the Mustang Dark Horse, along with unique badging and 22-inch high-gloss ebony wheels. Inside, the SUV includes an embossed 30th anniversary badge on the sliding center console lid and door sills, and is available on Expeditions with the Stealth Appearance Package, featuring a Salt Crystal Gray interior.
Since its launch in 1996 for the 1997 model year, Ford has sold nearly 3 million Expeditions, spanning five generations. The SUV has become iconic, spawning special editions like the Eddie Bauer. The fifth-generation Expedition, introduced for 2025, boasts a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine producing 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. A high-output variant, standard in the Tremor and optional on the Platinum, offers up to 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The latest Expedition features an evolutionary exterior update and a significant interior makeover, including a new dash design, screens, steering wheel, and other enhancements. A standout feature is the 24.0-inch digital instrument cluster positioned high on the dashboard near the windshield base. While Ford has not yet released pricing for the appearance package, it is expected to be announced closer to the SUV’s on-sale date. The 2026 Expedition starts at $65,495, providing a baseline for potential pricing of the anniversary package.
