Yet another Chinese brand hits the UK market in 2025
GWM will bring more of its popular products to Britain.
Big changes are cruising into GWM UK's showrooms in early 2025. The Chinese automaker has announced plans to overhaul its UK operations, giving its vehicle lineup a major glow-up and introducing new models that are ready to take on rivals in Britain.
Until now, GWM UK has been putting its chips on ORA, its quirky electric car brand. But come 2025, the company is rolling out the “one GWM” approach that’s already motoring along smoothly in places like Australia. Translation? More cars, more choice, and a unified brand that brings some of GWM’s most popular global models to the UK.
Leading the charge is the Haval Jolion Pro Hybrid SUV, a C-segment contender that’s already charmed drivers Down Under. Combining snazzy styling, modern tech, and a hybrid engine that promises to sip rather than guzzle fuel, the Jolion Pro aims to woo British buyers dipping their toes into electrification. Details on UK pricing and specs are still under wraps and will be announced soon.
But it’s not just about bringing new models to the lineup. GWM UK is also rolling out a facelift for its dealerships. By mid-February 2025, all GWM retailers will have undergone a showroom transformation, adopting sleek new branding to reflect the broader product portfolio. These spruced-up spaces will showcase not only the Jolion Pro but also future GWM arrivals destined for British soil.
This ambitious pivot is a gamble to capture more of the UK’s competitive automotive market. Until now, GWM has been somewhat of a one-trick pony, focusing solely on ORA. Adding Haval and other potential players to the mix could boost its appeal across a wider audience.
“This is the start of a new era for GWM in the UK, as we expand the product offering available to customers. With the introduction of Haval under the GWM umbrella, we are able to offer customers a very competitively priced, and well-specified petrol hybrid car, for those that want to make their first step toward electrification,” Toby Marshall, Managing Director at GWM UK, commented.
