Italian company plans a new car with a quad-turbo V12

When it comes to the so-called "Motor Valley" in Italy, one often thinks of a V12, whether it comes from Pagani, Ferrari or Lamborghini. In the coming months, a new name with a completely new engine will be joining the list, and this twelve-cylinder unit is set to be quite something.

What you can hear in the video below, which we are showing you as a world premiere, is a V12 that is now ready for its debut. We tell you what we already know about it.

Admittedly, the video is not of the best quality. The footage was taken in Modena during bench tests, which we were able to watch with our own eyes before anyone else in the midst of crackling, flames and revs chasing up and down.

The typical timbre of the supercharger can be heard, as well as the ability to increase the revs far beyond what we are used to from a modern "turbocharger". Technical data? As far as we know, it will have more than 2,000 PS, without any electrification. A true old-school combustion engine with a 120-degree bank angle, a one-off in the automotive scene, developed in collaboration with Italtecnica from Turin. More answers will follow at a later date.

There is no official confirmation yet, but it seems that it will find its place under a new hypercar produced in Modena. While searching the internet for more information, we came across an interesting detail: the website of Giamaro Automobili, a previously unknown name, which only shows a teaser video online. No particularly revealing details, but at the end, when you enter the date for the presentation on 22 May 2025, it says V12 quad turbo.

It is practically impossible for two V12 quad turbo engines to be developed in Modena at the same time. So if you connect the dots, the answer is that the new engine from Motor Valley will power the Giamaro hypercar, which has yet to be unveiled.

The saga of the V12 engines from Motor Valley is therefore about to begin again, 34 years after the Bugatti EB110, the forefather of all hypercars, which was created under the direction of Romano Artioli and was also powered by a V12 (3.5 litres) with four turbos.

An incredible engine, especially for the time. Never before had four turbochargers been seen in a V12. A power unit made even more complex by the 5-valve control system, the aluminium crankcase and the aluminium and titanium cylinder head. The total power output was 560 PS at 8,000 rpm for the GT and 610 PS at 8,150 rpm for the Super Sport (called SS). A legendary car whose spirit seems ready to return in a new, even more extreme hypercar.
