Acura is celebrating its 40th anniversary today, marking the brand’s launch in the United States on March 27, 1986, with the Legenda and Integra models. To honor this milestone, Acura has created a tribute Integra, known as the Acura Integra 40 Race, which pays homage to its first race car. This special edition is crafted by Honda Racing Corporation US and is based on a first-generation Integra, featuring a variety of modifications.
The Acura Integra 40 Race retains its original 1.6-liter four-cylinder D16A1 engine, which has been rebuilt, along with a five-speed manual transmission that originally produced 113 horsepower. The car has been upgraded with a Monsoon ECU, a coil-on-plug conversion, a stainless long-tube header, a custom Boral exhaust, and a Torsen-type limited-slip differential. Additional enhancements include new Tein coilovers, an adjustable Panhard bar, and a manual steering rack, all contributing to its performance capabilities.
The car’s braking system has been upgraded with Carbotech performance brake pads, stainless braided brake lines, and a manual brake conversion, concealed behind Mugen 14-inch wheels wrapped in Yokohama ADVAN-A050 semi-slick tires. Inside, the Integra 40 Race features a custom Blackbird Fabworx roll cage, OMP racing seats, and six-point endurance harnesses, while its exterior is adorned with Rio Red Metallic paint. The Acura Integra 40 Racer is set to debut at the 51st Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, taking place from April 17–19.
