Capricorn Group, a supplier to various racing clients, is nearing the completion of its first hypercar, the 01 Zagato. The company unveiled its second prototype at Salon Rétromobile in Paris and is already constructing a third. Officially launched in October, the car has undergone extensive calibration work. The 01 Zagato features a carbon-fiber monocoque and a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, delivering 888 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. It is equipped with a five-speed dogleg manual transmission, sending power to the rear wheels, and is capable of reaching 62 mph in under 3.0 seconds with a top speed of 224 mph.
Capricorn plans to produce only 19 units of the 01 Zagato, which will be sold through the Louyet Group luxury automotive retailer. With only a few build slots remaining, each car is priced at €2.95 million ($3.5 million at current exchange rates). The limited production and high price point highlight the exclusivity of the 01 Zagato, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts seeking a unique hypercar experience.
The 01 Zagato distinguishes itself in the hypercar market with its manual transmission, a rarity in modern high-performance vehicles. Inside, the car embraces simplicity with just two buttons—start-stop and drive mode selector—and a few switches, emphasizing a driver-focused experience. This analog approach sets the 01 Zagato apart, offering a nostalgic driving experience that is increasingly uncommon in today’s automotive landscape.
