Since its redesign for 2026, the Honda Passport and its rugged TrailSport trim have gained significant popularity, with the TrailSport accounting for over 80 percent of sales. For 2027, Honda is enhancing the TrailSport’s off-road capabilities with substantial upgrades to its suspension and chassis. Nearly 70 percent of the TrailSport’s suspension components have been redesigned to support the increased ride height, including new springs, dampers, control arms, and knuckles. Additionally, engineers have revised the front drive shafts and front subframe, making adjustments to 28 different parts.
The TrailSport now boasts 9.65 inches of ground clearance, an increase of 1.38 inches, surpassing several competitors such as the Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road, Subaru Outback Wilderness, and Ford Bronco Sport Badlands Sasquatch. This enhanced height not only improves the vehicle’s ground clearance but also enhances its approach, departure, and breakover angles by 2.0 to 3.0 degrees, making it more capable on challenging terrains.
Beyond the hardware improvements, Honda has also refreshed the TrailSport’s appearance. The crossover features more pronounced fender flares, new amber LED hood scoop lights, and a restyled lower front fascia. The Blackout Package, available as an option, includes black front and rear fascias, black Honda badges, and black 18-inch wheels. Additionally, every Passport is now available in Smoke Blue Pearl, a color first introduced on the 2026 Pilot, replacing the previous Obsidian Blue Pearl.
