The average price of a new car is around $50,000, which can be daunting for many Americans. However, Kia offers more affordable options with the 2027 Sportage and 2027 Niro, two of the brand’s cheapest crossovers after the entry-level Seltos. Sales for these models have been strong, with the Sportage being Kia’s best-selling model by a significant margin. The 2027 Sportage starts at $30,485, while the Niro is priced at $31,385, providing budget-friendly choices for consumers.

The 2027 Kia Sportage is a carryover model with minimal updates, primarily affecting the Sportage X-Line trim, which now includes a panoramic sunroof and smart power liftgate as standard features. The Sportage is available in six trims: LX, EX, X-Line, SX, SX-Prestige, and X-Pro, with all-wheel drive available on most trims and standard on the X-Line and X-Pro. It is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid options are also available.

The 2027 Kia Niro has been updated to be available only as a hybrid, with the plug-in hybrid variant discontinued. The new model features redesigned front and rear fascias, new exterior colors, updated suspension tuning, and a quieter cabin. The starting price for the 2027 Niro LX is $31,385, marking a $2,500 increase from the previous model. The Niro is offered in five trims, including a new S trim positioned between the LX and EX. It is equipped with a 1.6-liter hybrid engine and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, producing 139 horsepower. Despite not being the most exciting to drive, both the Sportage and Niro are popular for their styling and features.
