Mitsubishi has introduced a new compact electric vehicle, the Eclipse Sportback, which is based on the Nissan Leaf. The 2027 model features a distinctive front fascia with the Triple Diamond branding and a unique lighting signature above a revamped bumper. At the rear, it replaces the Leaf’s Ni-San taillights with opposing L-shaped markers, echoing the front design, and includes bold Mitsubishi branding across the trunk with a redesigned bumper.

The Eclipse Sportback also stands out with its different C-pillar trim and side skirts with striations, setting it apart from the Nissan Leaf. It is equipped with sporty alloy wheels that add to its distinct appearance. Although Mitsubishi has not released interior photos, it is anticipated that the interior will closely resemble that of the Leaf.

The Eclipse Sportback is set to go on sale in the second half of the year, with Mitsubishi planning to announce its specifications, pricing, and exact release date soon. It is expected to share similar features with the Nissan Leaf, which offers three trims starting at $31,535 for the Leaf S+. This model includes a 75-kilowatt-hour battery and a 214-horsepower electric motor, likely to be the same powertrain used in the Eclipse Sportback.
