Ram has decided to extend its 10-year, 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty for the 2026 model year, reversing its initial plan to discontinue it on January 2. This warranty will apply to the 2026 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, chassis cab models, and ProMaster vans, but not to the ProMaster EV. Notably, it includes the high-performance 1500 RHO and the Power Wagon. The warranty will be available in the United States and, for the first time, in Canada, covering essential components such as the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, differentials, and axles for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. It remains limited to the original owner, similar to last year’s offering.
Ram’s decision to extend the warranty comes in response to the increasing length of new truck loans, with 80 percent exceeding five years, surpassing the traditional 5-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty periods. This move positions Ram competitively against its rivals, Ford, Chevrolet, and Toyota, who offer five-year, 60,000-mile limited powertrain warranties for their full-size trucks. The extension reflects Ram’s acknowledgment of the growing average age of vehicles on the road, which is nearly 13 years, indicating a need for longer-lasting warranties to meet customer expectations.
CEO Tim Kuniskis announced the warranty extension in June, emphasizing Ram’s commitment to providing a “stronger and longer commitment” to its customers. This strategic decision aims to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty by offering extended protection for its vehicles, which aligns with the increasing demand for longer warranty periods. By extending the warranty, Ram not only strengthens its market position but also addresses the evolving needs of its customer base in a competitive automotive landscape.
