Rocketeer is developing the Keiryo, a lightweight sports car aimed at weighing 1,874 pounds (850 kilograms) while producing 375 horsepower, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of 441 hp per tonne. This performance level places it alongside high-end vehicles like the Lamborghini Huracan V10 and McLaren 620R. The car is powered by an upgraded version of Jaguar’s 3.0-litre V-6 engine, which Rocketeer rebuilds for enhanced power. Although the company has not disclosed how it plans to achieve the target weight, the first Keiryo is currently under construction, with a delivery scheduled for early next year.

Rocketeer intends to produce only 10 units of the Keiryo Miata, alongside a less extreme “Touring” version that will include additional comfort features. This suggests that the hardcore version will lack many typical roadster amenities. In addition to the Keiryo, Rocketeer is working on an Mk3 NC version of its Rocketeer RestoMod, which is nearing completion and expected to be delivered in early 2026. This version will feature a revised V-6 engine producing 300 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.

Despite being a relatively small operation, having built only a few hundred cars since its founding nearly a decade ago, Rocketeer has made a significant impact. Last year, the company delivered over a dozen RestMod builds, marking its highest output to date. The Keiryo exemplifies the versatility of the Miata, with Rocketeer having delivered cars to locations such as Antigua, Brazil, and the United States, and distributing self-build kits globally.
