New Tesla Model Y will feature an LED light bar
Informed by company sources, a Chinese blogger launches a rumour about the Juniper project, complete with renderings of the electric SUV
The new Tesla Model Y remains a mystery. The result of the Juniper project, the restyling of the American electric SUV still has no confirmed presentation or production dates, although CEO Elon Musk has made it clear that the car's reveal will not be in 2024. It is more likely to be talked about in the first quarter of next year, despite some rumours insisting on late November.
The design of the renewed vehicle is also secret. On the one hand there are those who imagine an update largely inspired by the Model 3 Highland, which was revealed only in September 2023, and on the other hand there are those who speculate a Model Y Juniper that will go beyond its sibling and differ from it in many respects.
Here comes the LED light bar
Such is the case with SugarDesign, a Chinese car blogger who - informed by sources inside Tesla and picked up by Car News China - publishes a render of the new electric SUV based on news and spy photos. And striking in the images is most importantly one detail: the full-width LED light bar connecting the two front and rear headlights.
A gimmick that had already been anticipated in previous stolen shots, but which seemed destined only for the rear of the car. Now, however, it seems that the nose will also adopt the innovative solution. The idea - according to SugarDesign - is to conquer the market in the shadow of the Great Wall by imitating local rivals Xpeng, famous in the Land of the Dragon for their characteristic light bar.
