Marcos, a small British sports car company nearly 70 years old, has faced numerous challenges, including multiple bankruptcies. However, a new chapter may be beginning under the ownership of Howard Nash, who is determined to revitalize the brand. Nash has already driven a prototype called the Mosquito, which boasts 300 horsepower and weighs around 1,500 pounds. He describes the Mosquito as handling beautifully and is considering it as Marcos’ first car, built on a BMW Mini platform. The positive feedback has led to discussions about producing a limited-run track car reminiscent of the original Mini Marcos.

In addition to the Mosquito, Marcos is planning a new road-going model with a track variant. Nash has driven a rolling chassis of this mid-engine sports car, which weighs approximately 1,400 pounds and produces about 250 horsepower. He describes it as a lot of fun and anticipates its debut before the end of the year. This new model represents Marcos’ ambition to return to racing and establish itself as a viable car company once more.

Marcos currently employs about 46 people, and Nash has secured all the rights to the brand, including the original logo. This acquisition allows Marcos to build new parts, offer engineering services, restore past models, and supply parts. The company also possesses the build records of nearly 4,000 cars it has ever produced, providing a rich foundation for its revival. With Nash’s leadership and vision, Marcos is poised to make a significant comeback in the sports car industry.
