The Mercedes-Benz GLE is set to undergo a significant transformation with the introduction of the 2027 model, featuring a fresh design, updated interior, and enhanced powertrains. At the top of the range, the GLE 580 4Matic will boast a revamped twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter mild-hybrid V8 engine, delivering 530 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. This engine includes a flat-plane crankshaft and optimized components, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The GLE 450 4Matic will continue with a revised 3.0-liter mild-hybrid inline-six engine, producing 375 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, achieving 60 mph in 5.0 seconds. The GLE Coupe will exclusively offer the 450 4Matic trim, with an AMG variant available that reaches 60 mph in 5.2 seconds
The GLE lineup will also include the GLE 350 4Matic, equipped with an improved 2.0-liter mild-hybrid four-cylinder engine, maintaining its 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque but achieving a 0 to 60 mph time of 6.8 seconds. Additionally, Mercedes will introduce the GLE 500e, a plug-in hybrid version replacing the 450e, with a combined output of 429 horsepower and 502 pound-feet, reaching 60 mph in 5.0 seconds. All standard GLE models will have a top speed limited to 130 mph and a towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds. The 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, capable of delivering 100 percent of torque to either axle, is standard across all trims, complemented by a new transfer case with a low-range reduction gear.
The 2027 GLE will feature approximately 3,000 new or revised components, including updated styling with new fascias, a front bumper, and lights that align with Mercedes’ current design language. Inside, the GLE will come standard with the Superscreen, consisting of three 12.3-inch displays under a single piece of glass, running the latest operating system. The interior will also include revised vents and four new 20-inch wheel designs, with two new exterior colors, Dark Petrol and Manufaktur Patagonia Red Metallic. The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Hybrid will stand out with its 577 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, achieving 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, and featuring an AMG-specific grille, quad exhaust tips, and an AMG steering wheel. While the exact on-sale date is not specified, the 2027 GLE is expected to arrive at dealers this year, with pricing announcements anticipated closer to its release.
