Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated electric EQS sedan for 2027, featuring significant enhancements such as a larger battery, a redesigned front-end, and an upgraded electric architecture with 800-volt technology. More than 25 percent of the vehicle’s components have been newly developed, updated, or refined, including an increase in battery capacity from 118 kilowatt hours to 122 kWh. The new model also boasts a two-speed rear-axle transmission and in-house-developed electric motors. The entry-level EQS 450+ is claimed to travel up to 575 miles on a charge based on Europe’s WLTP cycle, though American consumers should anticipate a range of around 400 miles.
Visually, the 2027 EQS showcases a fresh front-end design with a powerdome hood and refined lighting elements. The standard model features a black grille with a backlit star pattern and wide chrome slats, while the optional AMG Line offers a unique backlit star grille without chrome and an illuminated central Mercedes star. Inside, the MBUX Hyperscreen remains standard, and the vehicle is available with steer-by-wire technology, including a yoke-style steering wheel and heated seatbelts.
Pricing and availability details for the 2027 EQS are expected to be released closer to its on-sale date, with the sedan reaching U.S. dealers in the second half of 2026. The lineup will include the EQS 450+, EQS 500 4Matic, and EQS 580 4Matic. The 2026 EQS 450+ starts at $101,250, while the range-topping EQS 580 4Matic begins at $125,250. It is anticipated that the entire 2027 EQS range will be priced higher than its predecessors.
