Hyundai

Hyundai Motor Company produced and sold one million cars before entering the U.S. market in 1986 with the Mitsubishi-powered Excel compact. Its claim-to-fame was a bargain basement price, but bargain-basement construction and reliability kept Hyundai off the radar for many Americans through the 1990s. Improvements in design and quality backed by a 10-year 100,000-mile warranty helped Hyundai rebound through the 2000s, ultimately growing into a respected manufacturer with a wide range of cars, sport-utility vehicles, and inexpensive performance models like the critically acclaimed Genesis coupe.
