Mercedes Shows More Of Its Next Extreme Performance Car
The coupe has more aggressive aerodynamics and bodywork compared to the car teased earlier this year.
The Breakdown:
- Mercedes-Benz has dropped new images of its upcoming Mythos model.
- The coupe has tons of vents, an adjustable rear wing, and massive openings for the exhaust.
- The car is based on the CLE and could make as much as 650 horsepower.
We're getting closer to Mercedes-Benz launching its new "extreme" AMG coupe. This will be the automaker’s second model from its ultra-luxury low-volume Mythos sub-brand. AMG teased the car in January, but a new batch of photos provides a closer look at the car, which is different than the one from before.
The coupe has more aggressive aerodynamics. At the front, the car features a gaping Panamericana grille that stretches from the hood to the lower diffuser. The license plate frame looks as if it's barely clinging to the car, which is flanked by gaping intakes.
The car has even wider fenders, making room for front fender vents and openings next to the headlights. At the back, the CLE-based coupe has an updated diffuser that appears to replace AMG’s iconic quad exhaust pipes with two massive openings carved into the bumper.
There’s also an adjustable rear wing and fender vents located behind the rear wheels. Inside, the car appears to have aggressive front seats and additional bracing.
We expect the Mercedes to feature the brand’s new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-plane-crank V8 engine. It could make as much as 650 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.

Motor1’s Take: The new photos show off just off "extreme" the new Mythos model is. Once the camouflage comes off, we expect it will look downright mean and ready for the track.
