Hell Yeah: The Ram TRX Could Return
The Hellcat V-8-powered TRX could soon re-enter production, with CEO Tavares gone.
Everyone's favorite Ram truck might return from the dead. A report from Mopar Insiders, citing unnamed sources, claims the Hellcat V-8-powered Ram 1500 TRX could re-enter production in 2026, this time with a more powerful version of its supercharged Hemi V-8.
The report doesn't specify which engine the rumored TRX would receive, whether it's a retuned version of the last truck's 717-horsepower V-8 or the more powerful 797-hp "Redeye" version sold in some later versions of the Charger and Challenger. Either way, the source says it'll get a V-8.
Mopar Insiders doesn't get specific about other specs, though if this truck carries the TRX moniker, expect widened fenders, big all-terrain tires, and long-travel suspension with adjustable dampers. Oh, and a six-figure price tag.
Ram ended production of the original TRX in November 2023, with plans to eliminate the Hemi from its lineup. The Baja-inspired pickup was replaced by the Ram 1500 RHO, which carries many of the same chassis upgrades, but uses a less powerful Hurricane straight-six in place of the V-8.
2025 Ram 1500 RHO, the TRX's Replacement
Former Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares seemed dead-set on downsizing the company's portfolio of eight-cylinder engines. But he abruptly resigned back in December over disagreements with the company's shareholders and board of directors. When asked whether that would mean the return of the Hemi to Ram's lineup, CEO Tim Kuniskis told us he's "not ruling it out."
Ram declined to comment when reached by Motor1, which isn't totally surprising, considering car companies tend to avoid divulging info on future products. So we might have to wait a bit to find out whether Mopar Insiders' source is accurate.
