Lando Norris did not need a photo shoot to remind people what he drives when the helmet comes off. Footage surfaced on September 1, 2026 of the McLaren driver rolling through Monaco in a green Porsche 911 GT3 RS, its gold wheels and towering rear wing catching every camera on the sidewalk.

The clip landed just days before Norris heads to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix, where the reigning champion is mounting a serious challenge to points leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli. TheSupercarBlog, which first shared the footage, described Norris casually cruising the streets "before giving the flat-six a few revs and briefly accelerating away."

Ahead Of The Italian GP

Monaco is home turf for Norris. He is one of several current grid regulars, alongside George Russell, Carlos Sainz, and Oscar Piastri, who base themselves in the principality between race weekends. A green GT3 RS parked outside his usual haunts barely raises an eyebrow among locals anymore.

What did stand out was the plate: NO44, a nod to his car number that turns an already loud Porsche into a rolling piece of personal branding. The gold centerlock wheels and fixed rear wing left no doubt this was not a rental.

Norris arrives at Monza on a two-race winning streak, having taken Hungary and the Dutch Grand Prix to deepen an already sizable career-win tally. He still trails points leader Antonelli by 83 points. Even so, he told reporters he is confident McLaren has a strong car in certain areas heading into the Temple of Speed.

What The GT3 RS Says About How He Drives

The 911 GT3 RS is not Porsche's quickest 911 on paper, but it is the one built purely around feedback: massive aero, a stripped-down cabin, and a naturally aspirated engine that rewards precision over brute horsepower. That is a fitting match for a driver who spent this season learning patience before results came.

The current 992-generation GT3 RS carries combined WLTP fuel economy of 13.2 liters per 100 kilometers and CO2 emissions of 299 grams per kilometer, figures that place it firmly as a track-focused road car rather than a daily commuter. It remains the flagship of the naturally aspirated 911 lineup, one Porsche continues to develop with track-only spinoffs like the new 911 GT3 with the Manthey performance package.

Norris is not the only current F1 star with a taste for analog thrills away from the paddock. Fernando Alonso was recently seen behind the wheel of his own Aston Martin road car, proof that even title contenders want something raw and mechanical when the cameras from the paddock are not rolling.

Motor1's Take: Norris' GT3 RS shows he values driver connection and mechanical feedback when he's off duty. That preference mirrors the precision he needs on track. Fans get a glimpse of how he relaxes.
